GENERIC EMAIL ACCOUNTS TO BE DISABLED ON 24 JULY 2015

GENERIC EMAIL ACCOUNTS TO BE DISABLED ON 24 JULY 2015

IT is doing a review and clean-up of the network accounts.  This is best practice (also an audit and security requirement) to perform regularly

to ensure there are no redundant accounts with access to our network.

As part of this current review process all generic email accounts will be disabled on 24 July 2015.  We are doing this for 2 reasons:

  1. to make everyone with network access accountable for their use of IT resources, and more importantly

  2. the implementation of HR21 will require all staff to have personal network access.

An email has been sent to all generic email accounts about this change.  In that note staff were advised to:

  • Complete forms for personal network accounts if they didn’t have one,

  • Complete a form if they still wanted to maintain a role or section based email address (to be created as group mail),

  • Indicate to whom they wanted the contents of generic mailboxes to be given (these will be archived in the network back-up in any event)

Please contact Johnson Wavut, IT Operations Manager regarding this matter.
