Barred Extensions and PIN codes for external calls

Barred Extensions and PIN codes for external Calls

As a value enhancement initiative all telephones that are accessible by more than one staff member will be barred from making external calls.  Staff requiring external telephone access will require a PIN code to make these calls.  This initiative was previously advised to staff in a webmaster.

The process to obtain a PIN code is for the relevant manager to submit an email to the Executive Manager IT, noting the staff name, staff ID number, and the level of access required (i.e. local, national, mobile, and/or international).

Staff are reminded of the IT policy regarding password sharing which also applies to telephone PIN codes.  Staff with PIN codes are accountable for all calls made using their PIN.  Details of telephone PIN code usage are published to senior management every Friday.

The barring is being progressively rolled out, ANG Haus was completed last week.  Anyone requiring a PIN code is advised to begin the process of applying asap to avoid any impact when their phones are barred.  Note that internal calls and calls to all PX mobile phones will still be possible when a line is barred.
